Group Board Member and Chair of Human Resources Committee - Dimensions

Dimensions is a large and complex organisation supporting people with learning disabilities and autism, including people with complex needs. We enable thousands of people to have greater choice and control over their lives. The people we support, and their families are at the heart of everything we do, and we want every one of them to have a great life with excellent outcomes.

As part of our ongoing programme of Board rotation we are now looking to appoint a Full Group Board Member, who will also Chair our Group Human Resources Committee (HRC). As one of the largest providers of support in England and Wales, our Board Members play a crucial role in ensuring that Dimensions continues to thrive, and to deliver our strategy of Better Lives for More People. Operating in a highly regulated sector, our Board works in conjunction with our Executive Team to deliver our Vision and Strategy, they provide scrutiny and challenge and work hard to ensure that Dimensions adheres to its purpose and mission.

In addition to your role of Group Board Member, you will also Chair our Human Resources Committee. Recruitment and retention of people who work in social care is more challenging now than ever before. We must be sure that as an employer of around 7,000 people, we are providing our colleagues with the best possible experience, training, and career development opportunities. We must compete for the most talented people with other social care providers but also commercial organisations who are often able to pay higher salaries.

We are seeking an experienced Non-Exec Director, to continue with the great work already being done by the HRC and the Board. We are interested in people who bring Board level governance and/or management skills, ideally from a large and complex consumer facing-organisation. We are particularly interested in applications from people with experience or knowledge of the specific challenges relating to a 24/7 highly dispersed lower income workforce. Your career to date is likely to demonstrate a proven ability to lead and develop HR teams, whilst also taking on a broader leadership role.

Most importantly, you will share our values and commitment for providing high quality, person centred support. You will be driven to use the skills and experience you have developed both professionally and personally to play a key role in the leadership of Dimensions. You will join a talented and well run Board and Leadership Team to help us to continue to ensure that the people we support are at the heart of all the decisions we make.

To reflect our ambition and commitment to be more representative at Board level, we particularly encourage and welcome applications from people with a disability, people from minority ethnic backgrounds, and people from the LGBTQ+ community.
