Royal Academy of Dance - Head of People

The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) is a world leader in dance education and training. We have been teaching the world to dance for over 100 years and we believe in its power to transform lives for the better. Through an international network of trained dance teachers, we support, inspire and connect a global community of more than 400,000 students and dancers of all ages and abilities in more than 80 countries, making us a dance-force to be reckoned with.

With a new CEO at the helm the RAD is developing a growth-mindset driven by three main principles; creative innovation, customer centricity and social responsibility, underpinned by financial prudence and legal and regulatory compliance.

We are now looking to appoint a forward-thinking Head of People to ensure that we continue to grow and develop as an employer both in the UK and the rest of the world. As an organisation we are growing our digital capabilities and will be developing a modern People function which will strive for increased productivity through better use of technology. We will continue to work hard to improve our employee experience globally, to reduce turnover and increase our impact.

The Academy is a forward-thinking, open-minded employer. This could be a great role to develop your existing career in an arts-based organisation, but it could also be your first opportunity to bring your expertise into a new and exciting sector. You may have already had total responsibility for a people strategy in current or previous jobs, or this could be your first chance to create, shape and improve the people agenda. You may have worked in an organisation with an international reach, if you haven’t but bring an interest and passion for supporting people in countries all over the world that would also work.

We are keen to see applications from HR leaders who can demonstrate an absolute commitment to an agenda of continuous improvement. You will bring a relentless focus on improving the basics of HR, ensuring your team are well led, motivated and driven to change to make the Academy an employer of choice. You will embrace the power of technology to streamline processes. You may or may not have worked in a not-for-profit before, but you will need to share our values.

We encourage and welcome applications from people with a disability, people from minority ethnic backgrounds, and people from the LGBTQIA+ community.
