Trustees - Discovery (Somerset)

Discovery supports people with learning disabilities, autism, behaviours of distress and complex needs. We are driven by our values. People we support and their families are at the heart of everything we do, and we want them to have a great life, with excellent outcomes.

Set up as an innovative social enterprise and Registered Charity in Somerset, we are a subsidiary of the Dimensions (UK) Group, one of the largest providers of support to people with learning disabilities and autism in England and Wales. We are working hard to develop and continually improve the support we deliver in Somerset and are looking to strengthen our Governing Board with the recruitment of two additional Trustees. We actively seek to broaden the diversity of our Board, to enrich our collective decision making and governance. We will consider those with no previous non-Executive experience, but you must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the duties and responsibilities of being a Charity Trustee.

A person of integrity, you will help us continue to build a positive culture, able to work as part of a team whilst exercising independent judgement. Above all, you will be able to understand or learn about the life experience of the people Discovery supports and the challenges they face; you will also be passionate about improving their rights, choices and inclusion. We are flexible about your professional background. You may have experience at a senior level in HR, finance, operations, technology, involvement and engagement or social care. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to think strategically, to challenge and debate, to learn quickly. Our only non-negotiable is that you share our Group values and unswerving ambition for the people we support and their families.

To reflect our ambition and commitment to be more representative at Board level, we particularly encourage and welcome applications from people with a disability, people from minority ethnic backgrounds, and people from the LGBTQ+ community.
