Trustees - The Avenues Group

Home based with the occasional meeting in London.

Avenues is a community where people smile, laugh and grow – and achieve great things. We provide supported living, residential care and outreach services for people with autism, learning disabilities and complex needs. We love to go the extra mile for people, helping to build their confidence and promote individuality so they enjoy fuller, happier lives. Our 1,600+ staff support around 650 people across the South East, London, East of England and West Midlands. We believe that people need to live in the place they call home, with the people and things that matter to them, in communities that look out for one another, doing the things they love.

Our trustees have played an integral part in our success to date.  We are now recruiting two new board members to help us to continue to develop the charity in supporting more people to lead great lives.  We actively seek to broaden the diversity of our board in all aspects, to enrich our collective decision-making and governance, and we welcome applications from all communities and backgrounds. We work hard to provide an inclusive culture. Our meetings are predominantly online and scheduled where possible to fit in with your work schedule.

We are keen to see applications from people with previous non-executive experience, but we are also actively seeking first time trustees. If this is your first board position, we are committed to providing the support you will need to be successful. We are looking to appoint two people, one will have a background in digital technology and the other will have a career focussed on people, culture and reward. We are flexible about the sector/s where this experience has been gained as long as you share our commitment to improving the lives and outcomes of the people we support.

To reflect our ambition and commitment to be more representative at Board level, we particularly encourage and welcome applications from people with a disability, people from minority ethnic backgrounds, and people from the LGBTQ+ community.
